Fire Update from Lightfoot Farm

One week ago yesterday, we experienced a devastating fire to the dream we’ve worked so hard to build. While we are still going thru the emotions of what this means to our families we felt it necessary to update you all best we can.

To start, we want to say a HUGE thank you to ALL the firefighters & first responders that arrived on the scene, helped put the fire out, provide medical care, & kept us ALL safe & informed. They were presented with a tough situation. The heat from a piece of equipment outside of the building caught the back wall insulation on fire. The fire was very well contained but the damage from the immense heat & smoke is irreparable to our entire facility. We are having to start pretty much from scratch. So this rebuild process will be a slow process!

Second, so many family and friends stopped and checked on us, prayed with us while the fire was still going, helped save product, cars, freezers, etc! We cannot thank you guys enough for showing up when we needed you the most. And thank you for the meals for our families as well.

Third, we want to thank each and everyone one of you who offered prayers and kind words of love & support! We have needed and felt them over this last week. We ask that you continue to pray for us through this rebuilding season of our lives and business.

Finally, we will tell you the plans for the future as of now (and I literally mean right now, they could change as we progress through rebuilding but we will keep you guys updated!). Our plan is to come back bigger and better. This fire has given us the opportunity — trying to be positive and use a bad situation for good — to do some small redesigns and make our building much more efficient! Our plan is to continue doing our monthly outdoor markets & continue raising beef and pork to sell. We WILL be around to serve the community in some way until we get back open!

At this time we do not have a tentative re-open time for the store/processing facility as it’s still very early in the rebuild process but we promise to update you along the way! If you would like to donate a family friend has offered an online giving option:

Thank you all again for everything you’ve done thru this situation! We cannot even begin to express how loved we feel!
